The Secretive Solider 

In Puerto Rico’s wild embrace,

Where coffee shades whisper to the sun,

Perches the Lizard Cuckoo, solider keen,

Beak like silver dagger, eyes crimson-ringed

Tail blue-tipped white, flicking wind-swept secrets,

Hunting baby lizards in dappled forest glow.

The sunset burns in ochre flames,

Autumn hues where art and wildness fuse.
