This is part of the traditional/Classical training I took to draw accurately. It's basically an approach to make Atelier students adopt a method of drawing that is very very accurate. Charles Bargue made this for students to train their ability to copy, use tone and lines, understand form and create the illusion of a 3D object.  Charles Bargue (c. 1826/1827 – April 6, 1883) was a French painter and developed this drawing course.
